We start 2022 with the color of the year proposed by the Pantone Institute: Very Peri. As you can see, it's a shade of purple, which the famous institute says is meant to "help us embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us to a new vision as we rewrite lives."
Historically, purple was used by royal families, church dignitaries and the very wealthy. It is associated with luxury because of the very high costs of producing the natural pigment (for 1 gram of color, approximately 12,000 sea snails were needed). The artificial pigment was accidentally discovered in 1856 (the researcher was looking to discover an antimalarial drug) and thus became a color accessible to the general public.
The psychological effects of the color purple
It is the color associated with spirituality, absolute truth, reflection and meditation. It is also the color of the 7th Crown Chakra - S ahasrara, the source of wisdom, the spiritual connection with the Universe, self-awareness.
It is a useful color when you want to increase your concentration, reflection, finding true answers. If you know you're a perfectionist, "head in the clouds" or too introspective, use purple in small doses.
Color associations
Of course, you can add a neutral color to this shade of purple - from white, which will make it shine, gray or beige tones, which will temper it, to shades of navy blue, which will bring it depth and increase its nobility .
Another option can be a monochrome look, with the purple declined in different textures. This is especially useful when you want to achieve a visual effect of thinning and elongating the silhouette.
